Hi there, I'm from Apple, currently in charge of finops, some subgroups of engineering, data science, and analysts. We made a ton of progress in this space and saved the company a substantial amount of money. Always looking for ways to make the world a better place.

Don't know if y'all saw this poll in r/devops already, but I thought it was interesting. It seems like security is becoming more and more relevant. What do you think is the biggest security challenge for devops now? (I said it was maintaining access to source code.) https://www.reddit.com/r/devops/comments/raydwi/what_are_the_biggest_security_challenges_for/

Hello All curious how many use k8s with internal plane and deploy vs public ip ,theres little bit of extra setup if control plane is internal ip all deploy has to go through local config from where deploy or kubectl for each environment local shell

🐱👜 (the cat is out of the bag) We have a website! 🥳 As some of you know, we've been working on consolidating the resources for the Platform Engineering community into one convenient hub. And as of today, it is here! Check it out: https://platformengineering.org We've got links to expert talks, free resources, this Slack group, and all of the local meetups. We're also working on adding other features, including a job board. Big thanks to everyone who shared their feedback on the site pre-launch. And if anyone has suggestions on what to change or add, let me know!

Hi all! Just a question: do you have an enterpoint/portal for your platform engineering where you provide the tools/applications/apis/services so they can be easily consumed as self service by application developer teams? Or how your platform capabilities are discovered and consumed internally ? 😊

Hello there! I was wondering: if you have the opportunity to build an enterprise platform with a dedicated team, and you would like to obtain end-user data to base your first attempt, what question(s) would you start with? Or what insights do you consider essential to obtain to build your platform?

We've had Sentry (sentry.io) setup on a number of systems for a while now with the intention of providing insights into specific parts of a system that are failing and could either cause a issue soon or are causing an issue now. I've questioned the value it's bringing as we have other logging, monitoring and alerting tooling in use as well. Just wondered if anyone could share something specific with Sentry that they've found to be significantly valuable, beyond other tools in the space?

Hi community! part of a success platform, is that it provides troubleshooting or post-integration support. How your engineering team tackle those customer needs, and at the same time set the capacity for that? What tools do you use to provide support?

Hey folks, We’re building a self service centrally managed Kubernetes platform on AWS that would allow different product teams in our organization to seamlessly run their containerized workloads without needing to worry about service operations(that includes Infra management, Secret rotation, Observability, Incident Management, Capacity Planning etc). My team’s goal is to keep as many operational tasks as possible away from the development teams and make it cloud agnostic.  Currently, this solution is deployed in the single AWS region but couple of our services runs in a different AWS region and they want to onboard to this platform. Hence, we want design the multi-region architecture.  Any guidance on design and operational aspects to consider for managing multi-region SaaS Platform.

Hey platform engineers, I watched @Kaspar s talk about DevOps benchmarking 2022

    https://youtu.be/HasmY15ZDJo▾

and the need and rise of IDPs and internal platform teams. I wonder if really every organisation needs to build their own platform and needs to build a platform team or if companies can just buy powerful platforms with all the principles inluded mentioned in the talk (or just use public PaaS offerings). Totally agree that a managed K8s cluster by itself is far too complex for stream-aligned app teams and cognitive load would be too high. Even cloud services directly from GCP, AWS or Azure are probably sometimes too complex (or just too many possibilities and no golden paths) However, platforms with great CD tools, observability, security, multi-cluster/cloud aware, good abstraction APIs (like KubeVela) and all on top of K8s sounds like a pretty rich platform which could probably be built by PaaS-providers and just used by other companies dev teams? What is your experience here? Would you still need your own self-made platform and internal platform team? Which features would you need from a PaaS provider? Or do you already use an off-the-shelf PaaS as your IDP?

Hi Everyone ! I don’t know if I am in the right channel but i will try 😄 Do you use GitHub Actions and AWS ? I’ve just made up a terraform module that automates IAM ressources configuration to allow only certain organisations, repositories, and/branches to assume a specific role. Here is the GitHub repository : https://github.com/SamuelBagattin/terraform-aws-github-oidc-provider I try to make it as “open-sourced” as possible, so people using documentation and examples can easily use it. What do you think ? Am I missing anything ? Would you use it ? I’ll appreciate any feedback 🙌

Hi all! If you are working at enterprise level in Europe, and when forming your platform Engineering team, how difficult was for you to map the skillset needed to transform your Infraestructure, and how available where those profiles in the job market? At least in Scandinavia with the low population rates, it is very difficult to form such teams. How do you overcome that challenge if you operate in Europa?
