Hi @Viktor Gamov thank you so much for such a great presentation. I was trying to test the gRPC services with istio, but could not solve it. Maybe you can guide me, I have asked the the question here : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/74354715/istio-virtual-service-subset-not-able-to-send-request-to-specific-pods, I will really appreciate your help.

Hi I wrote a piece on what metrics should drive Platform Engineering, it sounds related to what @Arun Gantagoru was asking and given that is quite an opinionated piece I would love some feedback.  https://medium.com/@simonecasciaroli/platform-as-a-product-how-to-set-your-objectives-ee798e65a7f0

I know this is not super platform specific. But I came across this article and found it really interesting. Has a lot of good points, of course most of them might be very implicit, but I still think it is a very good read. https://gaunacode.com/here-are-my-lessons-learned-after-5-years-of-devops-consulting

Hello all! I am in search of platform engineers with strong opinions on what the platform journey should look like. 🙂 I’ve spent the last few weeks compiling insights and resources from people on the ground to share with the community. If you have ~30 minutes to spare, please reach out! I’d love to chat with you.

As always, at least once a week I would like to share a podcasts that I found particularly interesting. This week is Level Up Engineering with an episode on How to choose the right tech stack with VP of Engineering at Deem, Steven Lopez. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/how-to-choose-the-right-tech-stack-a-leaders-guide/id1482889491?i=1000583992533 How often do you listen to podcast? Do you have any episode with educational resources to share with the community? Put them in the comments ⬇️

Hello all! Searching through the channel, wondering if anyone has opinions on tooling that you have found useful in managing inventory / assets across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). Our organization is seeking for greater visibility into our cloud platform in hopes to inform stakeholders of things like cost, vulnerabilities, etc. First time poster. Been lurking for a few months. Happy to be here! 😄

https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12729418/ I came across this platform engineering group on LinkedIn that seems to be making traction. I'm all for congregating in different places for different reasons. There's a bit of stuff going down on Reddit too but it appears to me that this Slack channel is the place to be for platform engineers!

Hi all, I'm Tomer @ Otterize 👋 We just launched an open-source tool to easily automate the creation of network policies and Kafka ACLs in a Kubernetes cluster using a human-readable format, via a custom resource. Users declare each client's intents to access specific servers (represented as the kind
    ClientIntents
); the operator automatically labels the relevant pods accordingly and creates the corresponding network policies and Kafka ACLs. Check it out and let me know what you think - https://github.com/otterize/intents-operator

Hey everyone; if you’re looking for a weekend project, check out https://namespace.so, an all-in-one development platform that makes application deployment to Kubernetes a breeze. It’s open-source and extensible, and covers build, development workflows, end-to-end testing and production. We’re just getting started, and would love your thoughts and feedback. Have a great weekend!

it is Friday, once again and this week has been intense! We reached half of Q4, so we will only grow in intensity until the end of the year. Recently there has been a lot of discourse around burnout and cognitive load so, it is always important to take good care of yourself and your peers. Have a great weekend!

Some thoughts around anti-patterns to determine engineering productivity. Motivated by some recent events 🙂 I know it only scratches the surface. Any suggestions for more anti-patterns? https://www.logilica.com/blog/engineering-productivity-what-not-to-do

Hi Everyone, There are many of you who may be at the beginning of your platform engineering journey, have matured or are in the midst of it. As I just started mine, I would like to create a solid charter for this new team that will evolve into platform engineering. I was wondering how you started yours, what pillars you defined, what charter was drafted, etc. Can you please share your inputs and experiences? Thanks

Hello Platform Engineers! I’m relatively new to platform engineering, and I realised I still have a lot of things I don’t know! One specific thing I’m curious about is the design patterns/conventions/common solutions for using Kubernetes as a control plane for running multicloud operations. As an example, say I create an operator that takes care of spinning up a new instance of some AWS service, and I have a workload running in GCP that I want to bind to the AWS service, how do I do that? What are the common ways teams solve this? In addition, how do I make the Kubernetes operator monitor the status of the AWS service instance? Is that through some webhook mechanism, a message broker, or is that dependent on how the specific AWS service do pub/sub?

Happy Monday everyone! We recently open-sourced our solution CloudKnit that helps Engineers (mainly Platform Engineers) manage Cloud Environments (both Infrastructure and Cloud Native Applications) with Ease. A few of the key use cases we support out of the box (this is just the start as more stuff is coming) : 1. Clone environments 2. Ephemeral environments with easy (single line change) teardown option 3. Promote changes across environments (From dev --> qa --> staging --> prod) 4. Visibility & GitOps Workflow for entire environments 5. Environment blueprints We are hoping to form a close-knit 🙂 open-source community around it to make managing Cloud Environments easy for engineers. Please check out our Github repo here: https://github.com/cloudknit-io/cloudknit. I would love to know your thoughts and get feedback.

Couldn’t attend our recent live event “Improving the developer experience with Backstage”? We got you covered with a recording of each speaker and the panel discussion. Watch Suzanne Daniels explain how Backstage fits into the DevOps ecosystem and how Cloudify leverages it to help manage environments, including a detailed demo. Matan Cohen from Wix follows up with a case study using Cloudify through Backstage. The evening concluded with a lively panel discussion with Suzanne, Matan, Nati, and Roi Ezra from AppsFlyer, moderated by Sharone Reva Zitzman about the status of DevOps and where it went wrong.
