Hello friends! Thanks for including me. I'm Leon, SVP of Data at a startup in LA called Bambee, focused on providing a Human-Resources Manager as a service to small businesses in the US. I came here by way of this fantastic article https://platformengineering.org/what-is-platform-engineering And would love to speak with someone that feels particularly successful at implementing platform engineering teams at their companies. I have some very basic, pedestrian questions I need help answering for my organization: 1. What differentiates platform work from feature work? 2. Why can't the feature engineers "just do the foundational work" (instinctively I know why, but not well enough to argue for it) 3. How do we measure and report on the value of a "platform engineering" team? 4. How do we justify how many engineers should be on the platform team? I will gladly purchase coffee for anyone willing to walk me through these silly questions 😄 Thank you in advance! Leon

Hey all, I’m a team lead supporting a software and data engineering team responsible for the B2C Data Platform for the largest media enterprise in Finland, Sanoma Media Finland. I’m semi-technical (3* AWS associate certs, but not a programmer). I have a passion for product management, keen interest in the way that public cloud and platform technologies change our current and future lives. I’m active on the tech related networks and an avid learner. Let’s connect on LinkedIn if you have any similar interests http://linkedin.com/in/niko-kotiniemi And I’m looking to hire 1 senior data engineer and 1 data engineer, to work on the ^Data Platform, big data, in Helsinki Finland. Cheers!

Hey everyone! I'm Will and I build stuff. Mainly for early stage tech startups in the healthcare, fitness, and media space. Because startups are how startups are, I do full stack work, data, and of course: devops and infrastructure work. I'm also one of the co-hosts of the Adventures in DevOps podcast and run the DevOps for Developers YouTube channel. Looking forward to contributing and learning from the community here!

I work at Puppet, and have been an author of the State of DevOps Report for the last decade. Really thrilled to see how this community has been taking off!

Hi All 👋 , I'm Sr. Devops Platform Engineer at blinkit (formerly grofers), a quick commerce platform for instant grocery delivery in India. My primary responsibilities are taking care of CICD and Dev Productivity domains and build internal tools and feature as platform capabilities for the same. Other than CICD and Devex, I also contribute to Kubernetes and Cloud Platform initiatives at blinkit. Always curious to explore, learn, build and contribute - and that is why I'm here 🙂 .

Hey Platformers, I'm Chris, cofounder at Common Fate. I'm originally from Australia but currently living in London (I'm quite new here so would love to grab a coffee if anyone here is also in town!). I've been working in cloud for the last 6 years or so and have owned the DevOps/platform aspects of things in most of my teams. I'm currently working on open source tools to make cloud access easier like Granted. Would love to hear how folks are managing breakglass access workflows for incident response within their platforms. Very keen to contribute to the community and learn from you all!

    Mattias Ahnberg

    03/21/2022, 2:49 PM
Hey, Ahnberg here from Netnod (ex-Spotify)! Netnod is, amongst other things, an Internet Exchange where we focus on the Nordics, we also offer services in the DNS space as well as Time & Frequency (we’re part of providing the official swedish time, we got atomic clocks in our bunkers!) and as a service for the greater Internet we’re running the I-root server for DNS. I’m working as Head of Architecture & Development running a team of SRE and developers, meaning I mostly prioritise growth of people and my team. Other than that I spend my time thinking about our developer experience and platforms. I am very passionate about security so that is always a red thread through all that I do. Recent projects, to name a few, is improving our infrastructure-as-code stuff where we’re using CI/CD pipelines in Gitlab, terraform towards our on-prem proxmox as well as stuff in Google Cloud. A lot of k8s, both using GKE as well as separate installations in GCP as well as on-prem. Running a mix of puppet and ansible for various tasks. Lots of focus on migrating our observability into ELK and prometheus/grafana, and improving our alerting by thinking about how we can leverage features of Pagerduty. A noteworthy thing on my spare time is that I still try to help keep IRC running in the world.
