    Suneil Mishra

    09/23/2022, 6:32 PM
I’m Suneil, co-founder of seaplane.io and we’re building what could be described as ‘platform engineering in a box’ - basically a high level multi-region service from multi-clouds to edge allowing containerized apps to deploy into a single global zone that we manage dynamically/serverlessly. For platform engineers there’s configurability to help build out internal dev platforms without having to DIY all the low-level management. (I.e think more Waypoint than Terraform - global app deployment not infra wrangling.) I was excited to find this community, and interested in reading what people are working on - mostly planned to lurk for a while before posting. And very much don’t want anyone thinking we’re selling/pitching here…we’re just in a beta/design phase so looking for good conversations on the problem space and listening for now! (That said, if you’re looking for a job, we’re hiring!) 🙂

Hi all, great to be here! I’m Jay and I’ve been a software engineer for almost 15 years. In my experience working at large enterprise and small startups, I noticed that managing cloud infrastructure was a major challenge. For example, I was working at a startup called Reggora and it was my job to deploy the app on AWS. Sometimes it took days and even weeks to deploy a simple app. I was working at another startup called Kyruus and it was a lot of the same frustrations. We moved from servers to serverless and then back to servers. I left after 6 months to work on Oatfin because I believe that the process should be simpler.

Hi, so happy to have found this group! I accidentally learned about PE a little over a year ago, when I ran into the Weave (Communications) PE team at a local Go meetup. I couldn’t believe that something like this existed. (Dev)Ops-related things have been one of the most frustrating parts of my dev career (I wrote about that here), and Weave’s PE team was all about making those go away! I wanted to be part of that mission - to create the kind of dev experience I’d always wished for. It was so compelling, I decided to leave a really great job I’d started only 9 months before. It’s been such an incredible experience last 11 months, working on Weave’s IDP and seeing the impact PE has on the development experience.

Hello Everyone 👋 I am currently an Engineering Manager, coming from a cto, ciso, operations, engineer position. I am really interested in what Platform Engineering is. Working in this company for 5 months, currently doing the 2006 thing (build it, run it..) but missing the DevOps mentality in dev and have no ops, SRE or others. I wish this is the missing piece and that I can get enough information to introduce it. (I read 2 articles so far, so not fully invested yet ;p…..). Nice to meet this, as it seems, fantastic community.

Hello everyone 👋 I’m Sami, Staff Backend Engineer at Back Market in our Platform tribe. Happy to have across this community and can’t wait to hear of what others are working on and to learn new things. I recently worked on the implementation of a developer portal in our company and the portal now acts as our source of truth for what we have running in our stack, our approved technologies and is also the only way to create new “golden-path” microservices. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 🙂
