    Muhammad Abdullahi

    10/05/2022, 2:57 PM
I am Muhammad Abdullahi. I am a Computer Science student in Somalia who is expected to graduate next week, insha'Allah. I am good at Python and building mobile apps with Flutter. I can quickly pick up new tools and languages as needed. I am the kind of person who loves to take an initiative to make something happen like I did when I was at the university. I want to work in an environment where I can contribute and grow by learning from the experience of others. I am an open-source advocate. Outside of that, I am a reader and interested in Deep Learning and DevOps and building startups/tech products as well. I was a participant in a program funded by the government of Japan and now I am finishing Mogadishu Startups which is a program supported by the US embassy in Somalia. It is not easy for someone like me who lives in Somalia to get opportunities remotely or even in other countries. But here I am putting myself out there trying my best. I am looking now for opportunities that I can pursue so I can start a remarkable next chapter. I am open to DMs.

Hi! Excited to join and learn more about Platform Engineering. Feel kinda silly I just learned Platform Engineering was an actual term after reading this Medium article just now, but also vindicated and super excited! I’m a software engineer focusing more on automation and building tools and workflows to improve our dev’s experiences. My goal from the start has been to reduce their cognitive load and establish structure and standards. Was never sure what to say when asked what I do now since I don’t build apps for stakeholders. Since I work for a platform company, I always answered with something akin to, “I build tools for the platform our developers use”. So this article, and what I am starting to learn about Platform Engineering…I completely resonate with! It’s exactly the mentally and approach I’ve taken since tasked with these objectives. Albeit I have much to learn about Platform Engineering itself, I do feel this encompasses exactly what I am practicing and steering my career in. I just didn’t know it was more formalized! So cool. I am happy to be here to educate myself and learn more about best practices, ideas, and concepts. If you made it this far reading a random blurb from someone you don’t know…first, thanks! Second, say hi, would love to meet.
