Hi 👋 An exciting marketplace announcement today !! Linode users can deploy a low-code Internal Developer platform (IDP) in a single click on Linode Infrastructure and get a life-time free access to the platform to deploy and manage Kubernetes applications. https://www.linode.com/marketplace/apps/gopaddle/gopaddle/

Hey friends! Wanted to chime in with a shoutout for anyone who thinks writing integration tests is hard. I think so to. If you’re using Lightstep in your observability stack, you can now run trace-based integration tests with Tracetest and store traces in Lightstep to view them over time! No more writing tons of code just to be able to run a test. https://tracetest.io/blog/tracetest-integration-with-lightstep

👋 Happy Thursday! Just wanted to share an interesting blog from one of our team describing why we made some key product decisions when building our open source platform framework, Kratix. There's also a great description of how we've implemented GitOps and our use of Flux. Would love to hear stories on how others are doing GitOps on their internal platform or how you're managing multi-cluster Kubernetes 👂 https://www.syntasso.io/post/building-a-multi-cluster-platform-with-kratix-and-flux

Hey folks! We just launched a new feature on our developer portal - Custom Actions. Custom Actions helps developers self-serve tasks like creating new S3 Buckets, creating PagerDuty service, provision new Kafka topic, etc. And we have a free trial offering right now if anyone is in the market for an IDP. Always looking for feedback, so please feel free to share any thoughts you have! 🤓

Tracetest enables trace-based testing with assertions at any point within a request transaction. Using the xk6-tracetest extension, your k6 tests can launch deep testing by unlocking the power of OpenTelemetry. Join us on Friday, Feb 3rd, at 8 AM PT (11 AM EST) on the k6 office hours!

A colleague of mine wrote a pretty detailed tutorial on how to run integration tests that require multiple API calls to run in sequence. It uses the open-source tool Tracetest to do observability-driven development. Might be interesting for the community. Note: I am part of the Tracetest team, so I am passionately not disinterested to hear what you think about ODD. 😄 https://tracetest.io/blog/chaining-api-tests-to-handle-complex-distributed-system-testing

Hello! Anyone of you dealt with a complex Jenkins environment (more than 600 devs across multiple Jenkins masters) to rationalize and standardize pipeline code? Any tool / technique to suggest? We have an historical Jenkins environment where we gave a lot of freedom to devs and now it is hard to manage it, especially when it comes to confidence in upgrading without breaking things and when there is the need to manage massive pipelines update (eg: introduce mandatory stage, refactor specific commands part of shared library, …)

Hi Folks, We have developed a platform for integrating and managing Events, Incidents and Alerts in a Business Service context for customers from pretty much any APM, Log management or monitoring platform and then determine root cause. The product is still in pre-GA, and we want to test what we have built against anybody who knows the ITSM and observability space and want to contribute their input. Is there anybody here willing for me to go through a demo, please let me know. Our Website is in review, but is https://onepane.ai.

Hey All, Fellow DevOps engineer here. Having worked in both startup and enterprise setups, I felt the struggles that dev teams go through and decided to build Humalect (https://humalect.com) It is an easy way to get started with Kubernetes and provides some simple workflows to get started with end-to-end DevOps. The platform is flexible and extensible by design. We have recently made it open to all the developers. Would love for you all to try it out and share feedback. Thanks for reading Rajesh

📣 Hi everyone - exciting news from our team here at Okay, a flexible engineering analytics tool! We just launched our new and improved Metric Builder, which enables you to define your own metrics and filters using any field from our supported integrations (like Jira, GitHub, and many more)! Check out our documentation. • Calculate latency between any two events by picking the start and end timestamps • Create formulas to customize metrics and filters • Built in transparency around how metrics and filters in Okay are calculated Sign up for a free account on our website and check it out. We'd love to get your thoughts!

Hey friends! I wrote this short piece on open-source tools for both observability and testing. Why? Because as a back-end engineer, embracing the DevOps mindset and ‘shift-left’ mentality means more power and responsibility. Your responsibility does not stop at code commit. Implementing observability and testing tools to release high-quality code is a must. Check out the open-source ecosystem below for available tools! https://tracetest.io/blog/top-8-open-source-observability-testing-tools

I was wondering how your development teams working in a cloud environment (AWS in my case) are testing their solution in the local environment (which in our case is their laptop). Usually it is serverless architecture involving Lambda, SQS, API Gateway; codebase is C# and Java mostly. Do you still use local dev? Or everything is pushed to a dev / preview environment? If local dev is present, which are the tools used? We are facing some complaints about them having to wait for a pipeline run in order to test.. of course we can improve our pipeline DevEx but it seems the complaint is more on the pipeline approach vs local dev rather than purely on the performance, meaning that even if they have available the smoothest pipeline ever, they would like to continue to use local dev as the first testing environment.

Hey friends! If you’re interested in learning more about Trace-Based Testing and Distributed Tracing, check out my good friend Adriana’s post on how she explored Tracetest on Nomad. Learn how to install Tracetest and the OTel Demo App on Nomad running locally using HashiQube. Follow our good friend Adriana from Lightstep as she demonstrates how to create and run a simple test with Tracetest, using traces from the OTel Demo App. Read the full tutorial here: https://tracetest.io/blog/tracetest-in-action-running-trace-based-tests-on-the-opentelemetry-demo-app-with-nomad

📢 Announcement: Tracetest is now integrated with k6! We are excited to announce that Tracetest is now integrated with k6, a modern load-testing tool used by thousands of developers worldwide. This integration allows you to run load tests that verify the performance of your entire microservice, FaaS, or Kubernetes-based application. With k6 and Tracetest, you can ensure that your application is working optimally under load and that none of the many services involved are failing or taking too long. https://tracetest.io/blog/announcing-the-tracetest-integration-with-k6-deep-load-testing-of-your-cloud-native-system
