hey <@U057JKW0Z51> I would like to have you thoughts about the differences and similarities between <http://backstage.io|backstage.io> and <https://kubevela.io/> ?
I  never use both and would like to understand if there are functionality overlap here?

Backstage is a developer portal, kubevela is kind of like backstage + crossplane + kind of dapr

Basically kubevela is almost a whole solution/product/platform where backstage is just a tiny piece of a possible solution

thanks for your question <@U057DNE2PSR> . from what i quickly looked at, it seems kubevela is focus on kubernetes as the underline platform and we focus on the application and all of it’s associated artifacts: resources,  dependencies and in general backstage as a software catalog.

kubernetes can be used in our solution - we might introduce it on the next version. but it’s just one part of the solution which is the runtime environment
