I thought sharing an article about What is “Sustainable” platform engineering could make sense here.😊 We are focusing on tech for tech here, which could lead to the same problem of the fail of the DevOps world at scale, 😢😢 but we miss, in my humble opinion, the big problem: flexibility shouldn’t mean open bar🤭. We shouldn’t contribute to the 4,7% carbon impact🌱🌱🌱 on overprovisioning infrastructure. The Cloud democratize, simplify and accelerate the time to market and capability to use infrastructure but platform engineering, self-service portal, IDP etc what ever you are calling it, it serves the same purpose, should also build a governance and take care about FinOps and GreenOps as we can’t rely on cloud provider to do it.
