e
interested as well
p
also interested.
a
I previously have. Happy to chat through via DM
e
We have as well -- specifically, Vision and Guiding Tenets
n
We have set a mission for our platform org but we found the vision to be less effective than a roadmap so our vision is really a story we tell each year about the roadmap
e
Similarly - we use our vision to create the roadmap
k
Would you be able to share this?
l
I am in the process of building one and would love to see some examples as well
s
I did for DevX team ✌️
c
Did anyone share these docs or willing to?

DevXP Vision 2024What’s the DevXP Mission? The Developer Experience team’s purpose is to empower developers by providing them with the processes and tools they need to excel in their work. This mission leads to increased developer satisfaction and autonomy, improved software quality, and ultimately, the timely and successful delivery of software products. • What’s the DevXP Vision? The DevXP Team envisions a future where developers thrive in an environment free from unnecessary obstacles. By implementing the right tools, processes, and standards, the team empowers developers to elevate their work, collaborate seamlessly, and drive innovation throughout [COMPANY]. A central tenet of the DevXP Team's vision is the elimination of repetitive tasks that can reduce developer productivity. By identifying and automating common challenges and bottlenecks, the team empowers development squads to focus on their core missions and innovative endeavors. Another tenet is self-service: tools and processes are designed to be used without the aid of an attendant. Whatever the use case, DevXP ensures developers are autonomous, either by using the available and easy-to-use tools, or by adding a specific feature via inner-sourcing (or extension points) helped by clear processes and documentation. Tools provided by DevXP are inner-sourceable and DevXP ensures good communication of new features released.

I feel the mission is too wordy and not clear enough. What does “excel” in their work mean? How does this help the business? this is the mission i came up with for my platform engineering org.
e
I would agree - its well written, but could risk not emphasizing the important points. Sometimes this can be done by separating them to start (e.g. Our tenets are A, B and C...) and then following up with a section to dive deeper into these
I actually really like the simplicity in that @Kashmira Patel! I think the strategy we use (picture below is for the DX Team in our Platform Org) is a balance between not being too verbose, but also providing a bit of depth to help it resonate
k
I like this, @Eric Irwin! We do have some more explanation following the mission, but not in the format you have here. I think I will adopt it 🙂 thank u
Are there more tenets that are missing in this snapshot?
e
Not for that team
l
@Stephane BEGIN Your vision for 2024 is fantastic, the DevXP team that you described is really what we see the future of platform engineering/developer experience being based off the research we did with Nicole Forsgren and about 5 others not long ago. Not sure where your research came from, but seriously spot on, your org is going in just the right direction.
