I heard some skepticism around Platform engineering about:
1. Trying to solve a problem in the DevOps world that wouldn't exist, if we had devoted more time to aligning and structuring the team.
2. Focused on solving the problems that exist only for the reason that tools' complexity brings in, we weren't quiet sure those tools exist in a stable form in the longer run.
3. Solving complexity just b/c of too many stages in the app life cycle management, that wasn't necessary.
