Hello 👋 Travis mentioned this was a thing. Coincidentally, I've also recently been laid off, though several jobs post-Wayfair.
n
Blast from the past! Hope you have been well.
m
Yeah, for the most part life is good 🙂 Moved to London after Berlin. (Real London, not comma Ontario.)
d
Good fish and chips in London
a
Good to see you man
you did stir the pot a bit earlier re: not using k8s, we were watching that discussion on Y-comb 😂
n
Link? I always love some pressure testing on k8s
m
I avoid the orange site, but I stand by the arguments in that post, if you're deploying in the cloud anyway, you likely don't really need Kubernetes.
And it doesn't say “nobody should ever use Kubernetes,” it's fine when you need it.
a
Yep, it was just fun to watch how people reacted.
d
Nice. If you don’t have google scale problems, but you want problems with google scale software. Use kubernetes. 😅
Tip of the hat to Ably for saying that out loud!
n
As linked in his article, Corey Quinn and Pete Cheslock have been saying this as well for a while
a
Hi, Maik!
m
It's been a while. You still hang out near Bellevue? I was there last weekend on a trip.
a
Yep, still there. Ping me next time you’re in Berlin, we can grab a döner or something 😁
j
@odidenko hi, alex
a
Nice try, Jordan 😂
j
i love that you got that reference right off the bat 😂
a
That’s not a reference, that’s a PTSD 😅
