How does Platform Engineering titles called in FAANG companies such as Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Google etc
l
In FAANG companies, Platform Engineering roles often have titles such as: 1. Meta: Production Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) 2. Microsoft: Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer 3. Amazon: Systems Development Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer 4. Google: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Production Engineer

@Lights On sounds like a random DevOps roles, not Platform Engineer that has anything to do with Developer Portals

The title and role description are different. FAANG has quite some hiring legacy, and before they shoot around with new job titles, they will usually run the same old one under the umbrella of a new department, which has a different role description, for some time. Another misconception is that platform engineers automatically deal with developer portals - that component might or might not be part of a platform. FAANG run many different types of platforms and most of them actually do not have a developer portal.
