Is anyone else thinking of changing careers because the job market is really bad?, I've been unemployed since the beginning of March and haven't had much luck
j
Sorry to hear about the rough time. While I can’t compare my situation, I am seeing an uptick in k8s/terraform/go type work coming from LinkedIn. I really hope things turn around for you.

I'm not very optimistic about LinkedIn. There's an oversaturation of applicants and lots of fake job postings. I've applied for many jobs and I only got lots of spam calls asking me if I wanted to change my phone carrier to Rogers
j
Yes, the fake posting stuff is bad. Sorry, I should have been more specific -- I'm seeing one or two unsolicited contacts per week by recruiters. Prior to this month, it was almost nothing.

I’ve been around since January…2023! The management positions have been rare till recently. The market seems to be picking back up from what I can see. Technical positions (in particular devops and sre ones) haven’t suffered as much as management ones for what I can see. If I can advise, try to reach out to recruiters (hopefully you created some good connections with some of them). Also, despite the tech market being still a bit unstable, other markets kept hiring: financial/banks, healthcare, insurance. So could be worth to dig into these imho. Back to your question on changing career, I have thought about co-founding a business 🤷🏽‍♂️ 😃
P.s. was looking for a meme I saw today but can’t find it. Was something like this: Fastest way to get a career in Gardening: 1. Study technology 2. Get a job in tech 3. Go in burnout 4. Switch to Gardening
j
Maybe I should become a gardener...
Anyhow, @JayKay I'm actually very experienced with Terrafrom, so if the recruiter is willing to hire someone from Canada I'd appreciate it if you could give them my profile. https://www.linkedin.com/in/javier-cabrera-gonzalez-09bb14a0/
