Hey Everyone 👋 I was chatting with @Luca Galante when he suggested to share this idea here: One idea to boost engagement and expand the community could be to introduce mentorships. Pairing experienced platform engineers with those who are newer to the field or looking to develop specific skills can foster a supportive environment and facilitate knowledge sharing. Mentorship can also encourage deeper connections among members and enhance everyone's professional growth. Let me know what you think

Yeah definitely agree with you. Since the problem with the internet is, there are scattered things which confuses people for getting a proper roadmap of starting for platform engineering. Most of us, don’t really know what platform engineer truly means. As joining community as you mentioned about mentorship from those who are the seasoned platform engineers and the people who are already getting benefits from this community can help new comers or people who want to transition from one domain to platform engineer to get know and get a head-start in platform engineering.

This is exactly what is missing in my current role. I coud really use a good mentor to help me increase my skill level and feel more confident about what I'm doing. I feel like I'm surrounded by black boxes, and I really hate being the one person responsible for systems that I don't understand.

Great idea. Something to try and build officially into the community - or have it be a bit more organic? We could make a #mentors channel and just see what happens!

@Luca Galante What do you think about the idea? Can we create this channel?
l
Great idea. Did you see this thread @Oliwia? Let’s create that channel and connect with @Akash. Could be really cool

Nice! I’ll create the channel and we can get started @Akash
