Seems like I was accidentally in a thread when I posted this so I apologize for reposting it! Hello everyone! I'm interested in learning what agile methodologies have worked well for platform engineering teams? I understand this can be dependent on the maturity or stage a company is at in terms of adopting a PE team or even DevOps in general. I'm looking for insight on how either have played out over time for your PE teams. Today we are using scrumban for example. We are not big enough or can convince leadership to give us a product manager so all of the scrum duties fall on the EM. We work in this methodology mostly because the rest of the engineering org works in scrum and we're sort of asked to align to that for reporting progress and metrics 🫤 As most of you know, platform teams and our space doesn't fit nicely with how product teams work and operate. Yet, part of our goal is to ensure we are effectively demonstrating and communicating value back to the business so we wan to be able to do this in a way that requires very little overhead. Are there other agile methods that have worked well for your platform teams and still align with the rest of the org?

hey roberto. thanks for reaching out and asking a question. you won’t like what i am about to tell you but here goes. i would stick with this approach
you do need to evolve and adopt a platform mindset for your platform engineering teams and their charter to be successful

Thanks @Jordan Chernev - I appreciate the feedback. I don't think we're struggling having a product minded team. We truly see our platform as a product. It's more about what agile methodologies are more effective within a platform team considering the nuances.

it’s just a project management framework. i would personally stick with what’s well adopted and supported both skill set expertise and culturally within your environment

Product teams are trying to deliver software that solves customer problems and the customer hopefully enjoys using. They do this better when they speak to the customers regularly and deliver small batches frequently... maybe it's not so different for platform teams?
