Hey everyone! I've been working as a Platform Engineer/SRE/DevOps Engineer for a few years, though most of that time I've been only one of a couple or on my own, as I am now. I've realized that while working by myself is a great way to gain experience and ownership of a platform, I'm not really learning from other teammates in my domain, particularly those with more experience. My fear is that I'm not abiding by best practices and that I am falling into familiar patterns and technologies without considering alternatives. How do folks handle this? Any suggestions for seeking out mentorship and collaboration (other than staying active in this Slack community, of course)? Thank you 🙂

You could ask around in #C07HVSCKSKC for exactly that 🙂 Apart from that, the best way to keep yourself honest is to not think in technical solutions but in actual outcomes, the platform needs to achieve - if your solutions guarantee them, then there is nothing wrong in being your own best practices. If you’re particularly interested in getting feedback on a concrete case - put it in here for discussion, I would say 😉
