Any folks here who have moved from Engineering into Product and learnt how to master the what and why before the how? If yes, any tips?

Those kubecon EU 2024 talks can help you on some parts, they were interesting to me and found some nice tips (let the user talks by themselves, let them show you how they work)

but yeah, the "it's not simple to work the what before some parts of the how when you're a tech coming from the infra side" was a topic for discussion within the CNCF Platform WorkingGroup

I have lots (I think!) I was a support engineer who moved into product management in a feature factory in Mastercard. I left to join a scale up for 2 years to learn how to do discovery - and now have spent the last 8 months putting what I learned into practise in my new role while writing about it at the same time. I’ve always loved good documentation, so I kept most of what I wrote over the last few years written down on my google drive or confluence in the scale up. I felt like I wanted to start sharing some of it at the start of the year, so I committed to doing doing weekly tips back in January on LinkedIn - you can see them all here I was made redundant in Feb and joined toast the following month so have luckily had tonnes of new practises to try and write about, along with the perfect environment to do it. This is probably the best place to start on my How, this is probably my favourite Why, and maybe this one for the What?

„Project to Product” is a big help here :)
