Last Tuesday I had to occasion to be present at a platform-engineering-centered conference in Milan (https://platmosphere.com). There were a lot of great talks and insights, but above all EVERYTHING was about GenAI and how it will drive Platform Engineering into the future. What's your take on this? How will GenAI help us improving the already established best practices like, for example, execute Value Stream Mappings sessions, identify abstractions and golden paths etc. etc.?

I was there and yes, I was one of the few who spoke purely about platform engineering, rather than GenAI or AgenticAI, but that’s not bad, trends generate buzz. The platform engineering market was valued at $5.40 billion globally in 2023 and is projected to reach around $45 billion by 2033, and the integration of artificial intelligence is certainly helping drive the platform engineering boom. If AI can facilitate the adoption of the platform model, then it’s more than welcome. However, the real challenge will still be the cultural shift within organizations anchored in silos, trying to solve structural and organizational problems through mere technological adoption.

I actually saw your talk and I did enjoy it very much 🙂 I could not have said it better about the cultural shift
