I definitely agree with this article your colleague wrote. Backstage is becoming synonymous with IDP but that doesn't mean we can throw Backstage at every IDP problem and it solves it. We at Okta Platform Team, tried to use Backstage as the "frontend" wrapper for our internal AuthN/AuthZ, CI, DevEx tooling and realised we were writing more "glue" code to just adopt Backstage rather than actual work.

Very interesting @Yesh - I’ve been personally talking to a lot of backstage users as well and the amount of DIY some teams need can totally kill the initiative if underestimated

How are other tools compared to backstage. Backstage supported by CNCF gets some strong confidence. Will it have a better future or it is just a hype? Port for example. Are they generally used as UI?
