I have no personal experience, but I talk to Gartner clients about OpenStack all the time. A lot of OpenStack users have lost faith in the project and are looking to migrate away from it. It's too big and complex for the typical IT shop to manage; you need real, domain-specific expertise in OpenStack itself, and most IT departments just don't have that

The companies that succeeded with OpenStack were very large companies (Home Depot, Walmart) that can afford dedicated OpenStack engineers. If you don't have that, it's tough to succeed.

Telcos still use OpenStack. That's about the only place I see it today

Yeah, i can see why that things are this way. I am setting up Openstack on bare metal, as part of internal platform, on my own, w/o any previous experience with it. It sucks and is extremely confusing. I can totally relate to anyone ditching that piece of software
