I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that once you’re aware of small things you need to address them or the team can adopt a learned helplessness and lose a sense of progress. So having ‘action items’ owned by specific volunteers is extremely valuable for enforcing that virtuous cycle of ‘observe, orient, decide, act’ (OODA) to make those small things visible but ensure they’re addressed is absolutely critical. Small things only become problematic when they persist and accumulate.
