Years ago I started out as a software developer in telecom, but always ended up spending lots of my time making the rest of the team more productive with automation, etc. As it happens, there’s a lot more to building a software application than just writing the code, and that’s what I came to specialize in. People started calling it things like “release engineering”, “devops”, “developer productivity engineering”… But, basically, I make making software easier by reducing friction and pain. Cheers!
