Im currently doing a personal research around how to implement an IDP in the enterprise.
My main goal is:
• Gather ideas to push internally in my current employer
• Understand if it is possible to implement something generic enough open source glueing already existing solutions like: backstage, dagger, acorn, kubernetes.....

• Internal budgets
• Silos
• economical crisis
All these things (along many others) can prevent implementing something that would work....
So.... finding the right balance between investment and roi would be the key to push an IDP to an enterprise.
