I'm also helping out with the Unconference which is happening on both days, so there'll be time and space to have group discussions on all things Platform Engineering (or any other topics that folks want to suggest)!

@Paula Kennedy thanks for sharing this! I had heard about the conference itself but not the Unconference bit 🙂 How will the Unconference work on Tues/Weds? I see some different length time blocks on the schedule: https://stateofopencon2023.sched.com/overview/type/Unconference?iframe=no How/when will potential topics be presented? At the beginning of each 90 minute block of time? Any particular style you’re suggesting for running the sessions? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference#Facilitation_styles

Hi @Jeremy Adams, thanks for the questions! Current plan is that the Unconference sessions are scheduled to fit the agenda of the rest of the conference (same break & lunch times), and avoiding the keynotes. The timings are: 7 February: 1pm – 3pm 4pm – 5:30pm 8 February: 10am – 12pm 1pm – 3pm 4pm – 5:30pm
At the start of each session, we will allocate 30 mins where we will cover: • Reminder on CoC • Describe the general philosophy /rules of unconferences (similar to https://devopsdays.org/open-space-format/) • We'll invite whoever is in the room to suggest topics that they want to discuss • Depending on number of folks in the session / and number of talks proposed, we'll allocate time per session (we can run two sessions at the same time, so they may be anywhere between 20 mins per topic and 40 mins per topic)
Hope that clarifies but let me know if you have any other questions
