I did a PoC with them and honestly I am pretty impressed by the product. My main key advantages over the other IDPs are : • the bring your own data model: you can represent literally everything and you can chose which are the important things for you to show in you portal • the fact of being API first: update the catalog thanks to the API easily with a GH action, push information easily from any tools, leverage workflow automation by querying the catalog from a CD pipeline • self service actions that works both with GH actions and Kafka 🧠 : this makes the automation completely compatible with what you probably already have • Scorecards easy to write in json 👍 ( soon in the UI )

We use Port at our company, we started with a basic software catalog and extended it to represent our lifecycle with their Blueprints. Self service came a bit later and today is used by engineering product and sales. I highly recommend their product and support is great 👍

We also did a massive research about backstage and came to an understanding that it is much better to use Port. You can get it up and running amazingly fast to do a POC. Now we are on the way to production and our developers are super excited about their capabilities. Joining to @Alessio Trivisonno with the major advantages

I did some vendor analysis with Backstage, Configure8, Mia Platform, Humanitec and then Port for our Platform Engineering team that wanted to develop an IDP, and Port was the best out of the pack in terms of features (catalog, actions, scorecards and data model), but also the UI/UX part. It super easy to understand and get started with. Now, Port is quite new, and they may still lack small things, but what surprised me a lot after we started using it, is how fast the team behind Port implements new features and reacts to the customers feedback. I can only recommend giving it a try, it's a solid Backstage alternative that requires a fraction of effort to set up
