I will welcome any feedback: https://www.timlawrence.org/work/ I track my resume in github and display it here so when people ask it's super easy to share. So this one is mostly content rather than formatting and such. The one I give to recruiters and such I format nice and neat in a PDF
n
Left myself a reminder to take a look later this evening
j
tim, did you iterate on the feedback i provided yesterday?
if we were to move this to gdocs, we could make iterations faster
t
Yes. Going through some old performance reviews and release notes to scrounge up some numbers to quantify more
j
attaboy
Kinda feel starstruck getting the Jordan treatment on the resume πŸ˜„ Thanks for the feedback
Those google doc comments take me back
j
now you realize it’s how jordan is/was all along, less so anything else
z
This is how Jordan do
j
that how jordan be
zach, do you want me to take a final pass at yours or are you still working on it
z
Please do, although I had to ship it as I thought looked best to a few places today before some calls
j
Link?
j
zach, you did a really good job with the last draft outside of 2 typos
fix those and you are set to sail
z
oops
j
a night and day difference from where you started and what i just read
great job
z
good thing I'm a CS major and didn't get an English degree like I originally wanted
t
Ok
I'm curious
What does an English major do in the army?
Like that dude in saving private Ryan that showed up with a typewriter?
n
The military has a pretty massive PR department πŸ™‚
z
the same thing a CS major does - apply violence to solve problems
t
Feedback received. Draft 2. Scraped as much as I could from my release notes and perf reviews to add results. Some of my older gigs are still more or less tasks. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10S8yggr6IG4Zua-NK53-CsE5AE7ULPHzvKfByAzpfUk/edit?usp=sharing
Although one of the last things I did at Zoominfo was their AD and exchange migration I guess that's a result.
I ripped @Zach Swanson resume as a template for formatting
z
mine is a very conservative classic style
t
Can I add that I have 9/10ths of a bachelor from UMass Lowell lol? I ran out of money and had to work so I dropped out. My dad said I should go back and finish it but, shrug dog What's it gonna gain me at this point
The recession was a fun time
j
reviewed it just now, tim. there is work to be done still. happy to take a look at draft v3

A true combat leader
z
we were once stuck in an alley and some guy with an AK started shooting down at my trucks from a rooftop
and I yelled at my guys to return fire but they all just ducked inside and were taking cover so I got out of the vehicle to do it myself
and one of my privates says "well goddammit if LT is gonna get out, now I gotta get out too"
j
black hawk down intensifies
z
so, we had that but with HMMWVs
j
All I see is MMHPs

Njegos, Ill take a look this weekend
done. it’s a very good start in terms of formatting and sections. it was very easy to read. opportunities in moving away from describing roles as responsibilities and reframing as impact / value add instead
