Is platform engineering more like devopsing or more like SWEing?
m
Do you mean purely by "definition?" Or in terms of what a good Platform Engineering team would be doing day to day? To me, its doing more traditional "Ops" work in a programatic, automated, and enabling way. Creating pipelines and automation to get code out to production in a programatic, secure, scalable, and cost effective way. That work could be done by traditional SWEs, or Devops Engineers.
Lotta buzz words in my response šŸ™‚ . Not intentional.

Platform engineering is building your internal platform as a product. It's SWEing a product, which includes lots of DevOps

This is an article I wrote on the topic @Roman Matveev
@Leon Rosenshein’s break down is probably the best way to generally understand it

Platform engineering is more like plumbing. SWEing then would be using the water that comes out of those pipes.
